Don't ignore symptoms

Sometimes people ignore GI symptoms because of embarrassment or they assume their issues are normal or no big deal. However, symptoms can be signs of something more serious. Make an appointment to see one of our doctors if you are experiencing the following:

  • Changes in bowel habits
  • Abdominal bloating or cramping
  • Frequent heartburn
  • Unexplained weight loss
  • Unresolved diarrhea
  • Rectal bleeding
  • Trouble swallowing

Screening for colon cancer is effective for both early detection and for prevention

Colonoscopies Save Lives

Recommended at age 45

If you’re 45 or older, it’s time for a screening colonoscopy. We know you don’t like to think about it, and the prep can be uncomfortable and inconvenient. But in the scheme of things, it is a minor inconvenience considering that colorectal cancer is the third leading cause of cancer-related deaths in men and women.

A colonoscopy screens for pre-cancer and cancer. Colonoscopies can show irritated or swollen tissues, ulcers, polyps and cancer. Early detection of colorectal cancer is easier to treat.
